Update Summary Product Code
This routine lets you update the Summary product code key and description. For an idea as to why you need this file, please see help for Updating Product Codes
Below is a screen shot of the routine that allows you directly update the Summary Product Code. Simply point and click on each section to get help, or just scroll down the page.

The summary product code is used mainly to categorize product sales by lumping several other product codes together . For example. If you were a car dealership, you might categorize compacts as product code 101, mid-size as product code 102 and full size as product code 103. All of these product codes would be summarized into Summary Product code 100, so that when you ran a summarized sales report, you would see information for product code 100 only i.e. all cars. If you were to run the same sales report as detailed, you would see various size cars listed separately.

Summary Product Code Key:
If you are entering this file because you are jumping in from another routine, the product code key is automatically transferred from that routine.
If you are using this routine directly from a menu, the you must enter the key. If the item is on file, it will be retrieved and the data displayed. If the item is not on file, then you will be required to complete the record.
Description:
This is a free from entry field where you may enter something that is familiar to you regarding sales of your product. From the above example, you might enter "all cars".
Date/User info:
This line simply displays who the last person was to file this record and the date that this was done.
The Command Line:
The command line is where you may enter the allowed 1 character responses.
F)ile.... By entering F, you file the record in its current state.
D)elete... By entering D, you delete the current record completely
S)equence... By entering S, you are instructing the program to sequence through each field so that you can edit it
@)abort... Finally by entering @, you can abort any change made and the record will remain as it was when you first entered the routine.
