Field Edit
Since our system is strictly text based (so far), you have to follow certain rules when editing.
If you choose to edit a field, you must re-type the field in its entirety. You cannot use the arrow keys as in word processors to move back and forth in a line of text. If you do this, our system takes each key stroke as an entry into the field, and most of these keystroke codes end up being form feeds when you print reports. So if you enter a line of text somewhere and then use the left arrow to backspace though the text and then re-type, it looks ok on the screen but when you print this information, you will get up to 80 blank pages of paper spewing from your printer. NOT A PRETTY SIGHT.
You will notice that not all of our input fields are identical (although we are working on making it so.) Some of the fields, when you being and edit will be surrounded with brackets like this [MY ADDRESS] and other fields will be designated with a row of dots like this ".............", with the cursor blinking at the beginning of the row. In most cases, if the field is surrounded with [ ], your options are to either put something new in it, leave it as it is or abort using the "@" symbol as the first character of the field. If the field is designated with "......", you have more options. You may leave it as it is, type something new, type "^" as the first character, and the system will back up to the previous field, enter a space as the first character to wipe any info from the field, enter a "+" as the first character to cause the system to abort the entry and drop back to the prompt at the bottom of the screen etc.
Also, please review our terminology to familiarize yourself with the proper usage of keys.
