Grendata Computer Systems is a Software Development Company specializing in Accounting and Inventory Control Systems for the Retail Industry and in particular, the Furniture Retail Industry. Our clients include Furniture/Accessories retailers, Furniture/Appliance retailers, Appliance/RadioShack retailers. We are attempting to adhere to our policy of simple and fast, both on this web site and in our new applications, but new technology and techniques, seem to force themselves upon us. Company ProfileWe are a software development house, specializing in accounting and inventory control systems for the furniture retailing market. We have been in the business of writing software since 1983 and have seen many changes occur since that time. Our clients have given us letters of endorsement and if you would like copies, please ask and we will forward them to you by fax or snail mail, which ever you prefer. We provide a Data Base Management System that gives the user speedy control over his/her business including instant access to any customer information on the system even with over 200,000 records present. Our system has been proven in the real world now for over eighteen years. Recently we have ported our applications to run on a MVDBMS called jBase. You can visit their site at jBase Incorporated. Our current applications are installed on Windows2000 server and we are considering Windows XP in the future.. It is a true multi-user system. Although the MVDBMS itself, does not support graphics, it is extremely efficient and fast. However, the operating system will support graphics, and with ODBC, you can move data in and out of the data base. Applications such as Visual Basic can be used to produce Windows-like display & input screens. For those of you who need a system with more than 10 terminals, it is extremely cost effective. When it comes down to the crunch, do you really care what kind of MVDBMS you are running as long as it gets the job done quickly and accurately. We still have one client who is running our original applications written in 1987 using the original PICK dbms. They have a 25 user system and are started running 21 dumb terminals and 6 printers on a Tandy 386, 12mhz machine with 640k memory. Their hardware has been upgraded over the years and have now reached the limitations of the hardware that this dbms will run on. It is a 486/66 with 4mb of memory. We couldn't go any higher because his tape drive card would not run in a system with a bus speed any higher than this one. He is really happy now, because his whole system runs many times faster than it used to. We can provide turnkey systems to our clients, but realize that international sales of software will probably mean that clients will purchase hardware locally. We only ask that you consult with us first on type of equipment to purchase. Locally, we do not compete in the "made in Taiwan" market. We use and supply only high quality products. As the parable says "don't build your house on sand". We currently supply computer equipment manufactured and assembled by companies in the United States and Canada in the traditional "tower" cases. We also supply industrial computer equipment from a company in Canada called "Transduction Limited". These are rack mount computers with plenty of Power Supply, Cooling, etc and should run continuously for many years. Even though the price of computers has dropped dramtically, we would suggest that you do not attempt to run our software on the cheapest box you can find. We no longer, install communications equipment. However, if you have more than one location, we suggest that you use a VPN router at each location. Our company is still a proprietorship.
